What are Meal Replacements good for?
Meal replacements are not for everyone. If you have the opportunity to eat a wholefood meal, you should always go with that. However, some individuals may run the risk of missing out on meals, or consuming insufficient energy on a daily basis, and so these can be a great option!

What are Meal Replacements made of?
Meal replacements vary greatly on the ingredients and their nutritional profiles. Some of the products on the market are packed with a long list of ingredients, most of which are artificial. Artificial ingredients are not inherently bad, but you don't want to consume a lot of them.
Another group of meal replacements will be high in one or two nutrients e.g. carbohydrates and fat, and underdose another important one e.g. protein. This is not a "meal replacement" because it does not provide the necessary balance of nutrients.
You want to look out for meal replacement shakes or bars that provide sufficient amounts of the macronutrients but also a range of vitamins and minerals that you are missing out on.
